‘Why Germany?’ Friends asked.
‘Education and medical systems are good.’ While giving them the official answer, a voice screamed out from my heart – we got bored in Japan, let’s flee from Asia and see Europe!
The Real Reason Behind
The more formal answer would be: If we continue to live in Japan but don’t understand Japanese, it will not be of much benefit to Curry Boy’s career development. The ideal is to go to a country that we both can speak English.
So, it happened to have the opportunity to come to Germany. Although I had never heard of the city of Düsseldorf beforehand, the excellent education system and medical system in Germany have increased the confidence of emigrating, and there are many people of different nationalities living in Düsseldorf. I believe the culture is also colorful!
Try to Live, then You Know
Although many friends of the same age have already bought properties and settled down, Curry Boy and I are still exploring. ‘Where is the best place to live? Why not to try XXX!’ ← Still at this stage.
In the past, my Japanese boss used to say: ‘価値があると感じたら, まずやってみる. (If you feel it is valuable, try it first)’ Our major decision to move to Germany this time is also with this mentality, although there are many unknowns, no matter how much research you have done, in fact, those are the experiences of the third party, fourth party or even the fifth party. If you have not lived in it, you’ll never know whether the place is suitable for you.
Our Impression of Germany
Take us as an example, we have never been to Germany, and our impression of Germany is limited to: a Western version of Japan; many rules; Germans are cold and serious; kitchen appliances are quality assurance; national food is sausage and beer; everywhere systematised; Germans are very efficient; German football team is very good…
We have only been living in Germany for 2 months, but we have already found that our impressions are still impressions, and there is still a gap with the reality. Take the Germany’s transportation system as an example, it requires quite a lot of time to understand how various tickets work and what restrictions are there. It’s not like in Japan or Hong Kong, with one card in your hand, then you can roam around freely.
However, we believe that each country has its good and bad points, which are worthy of praise and improvement. As long as you discover more of her good side, the scenery you see will naturally be more beautiful.
