Under Lockdown, hair salons are not open.
I had my hair cut in Japan at the end of September. Now, 5 months has passed and my hair has become messy. What about Curry Boy? He came to Germany in November and had a haircut. After 2 months, his hair was already screaming at him. He couldn’t help but often move around his fingers through the sideburns. And today, he decided, ‘couldn’t help it anymore, ‘let’s get the hair done!’
‘You can search on Youtube, and I can cut them for you if necessary!’ I said.
Usually, he doesn’t respond so quickly, but in a second, he has already watched a few videos. ‘Well, like this!’ He showed me the videos. ‘It shouldn’t be too difficult.’ (His eyes are full of confidence from nowhere)
What is taught in the video is to use a hair shovel specially used for cutting hair. And what we have is a shaver for shaving beards. ‘Look here! You can adjust the length from 1 to 10, the longest is 1cm, and then shave like this.’ He adjusted it to 10, and then shovelled it on one of his sideburns to demonstrate to me.
It is the first time for me to hold his shaver, and I’m about to shave his head? ! I still couldn’t believe it.
The mood at the moment is a bit complicated. Although the hair is not mine, in case something goes wrong, it’s him who needs to deal with it, not me, but when I look at the countless strands of hair, it feels like I am about to create some art.
Anyway, let’s do it!
I’m holding up the shaver. I pressed the button. The shaver is hobbling at Curry Boy’s back hair. A lot of hair is falling. OMG! I REALLY DON’T KNOW where to shovel, how to shovel, and the whole process is based on feeling. ‘Um… probably shovel here… about this length…’ I mumbled in bits and pieces.
‘Shovel higher! Don’t be afraid! Shovel it! In the worst case, shovel it all!’ Curry Boy looking at his wife tremblingly shovelling his hair at the walking speed of a turtle. I assume it could take a few hours.
Well, I’ll be more bold and devote myself to shovelling then!
‘Oh! easy, easy, and gentle.’ I stopped and took a look. Oh my god! The scruff of his neck became red! ‘Does it hurt?’ I ask. ‘It doesn’t hurt, but don’t press too hard.’ He comforts me.
While shovelling, I fantasised to myself if I was a hair stylist. I took a comb to make gestures, and then cut vertically with scissors, trying to reduce the hair volume and make a natural look.
As a result, my first-ever giveaway haircut took more than an hour. I take a picture and showed him how his back is cut. ‘Good, good!’ And all I can say is: ‘Not too bad…’
Every time Curry Boy sits in front of me, I can’t help but stare at the asymmetrical head that fluctuates in length. How can he be satisfied with this?
On the same day, I wanted to have my hair dyed. ‘I want to dye my hair myself.’ ‘Okay, I’ll help you!’ Curry Boy generously offered his great service to me. Honestly, there was a moment when I thought to myself, ‘am I looking for trouble right now?’ He never dyes his hair, and so do I. I always go to the hair salon to make it done.
But cutting and colouring in Germany are more expensive than I imagined. While a lady’s cut costs an average 40-50€, and colouring is the same. So, a cut plus colouring will cost more than 100€ (in Tokyo, it only costs around 7,000 yen).
Since Curry Boy put his faith in me, how can I not have confidence in him dyeing my hair? So I found a Youtube video, showed him how to methodically and evenly apply hair dye to each strand of hair, and got to work!
You may think: ‘It’s just dyeing hair, how difficult is it? Many people have dyed it themselves!’ I agree. But for Curry Boy, who has never dyed any hair or combed a girl’s hair, he takes every step with extra care.
‘Wow, a lot of hair is falling!’ He was stunned. ‘It’s normal, don’t be afraid! I lose a lot of hair every day!’ (Am I soothing him?)
He try to apply colour and comb again, ‘it’s tangled! I can’t comb it. Does it hurt?’ ‘It doesn’t matter, just comb it! I don’t feel any pain!’
I divide the hair into 4 parts and tie it up, and then each time he unpacks a bundle of hair, he then separates several parts with a comb, and applies the colour gradually from roots to roots, and finally checks to see if any grey hair has been missed. He was very careful and tried to do his best. I appreciated it a lot.
In the end, it took him more than an hour to finish his first-ever giveaway hair colouring. Result? As expected, some grey hairs are missing out, but they are all 90% satisfied! To be honest, how many husbands would dye their wives’ hair? 🙂

Lockdown下，髮型屋都不可營業。我這頭毛，9月底在日本作最後一剪，至今已經5個月，頭毛變亂草。咖喱男呢？11月時來德國後剪了一次，過了2個月，頭髮愈來愈長，他常常不受控地將手指穿梭玩弄於滴水之間，終於到了今天，再也忍不住了，「好！今天就自己剪頭髮！」
「好呀，你上Youtube搜尋一下短片，需要的話我幫你剪！」我說。
平日行動都沒那麼迅速，轉眼間他已看了幾個短片，「嗯嗯，這樣這樣，應該不會太難，好啦我們可以開始！」（眼神充滿不知哪裡來的信心）
影片中教的，都是用專門用來剪頭髮的剷髮器。而我們持有的，是一個用來剃鬚的鬚刨。「你看，這裡是可以調較1-10的長度，最長是1cm，然後像這樣剃。」咖喱男將長度調較到10 ，然後剷在在滴水上示範給我看。
才第一次拿著他的鬚刨，就要剃他的頭毛了？！
當下的心情有點複雜，雖然頭毛不是我的，萬一有什麼差池，大鑊的是他不是我，但千絲萬縷頭毛在我手，感覺就像準備要開始藝術創作了，成果如何，我的名聲也必如何！

拿著已開動的鬚刨剷上他的頭髮，噢賣噶！很多頭髮掉下來！而我，不知道大概要剷到哪裡，整個過程都是憑感覺，「um……大概剷到這裡吧⋯⋯大概這個長度吧⋯⋯」我碎碎唸。
「剷高一點！不用怕！剷吧！大不了全部剷光！」咖喱男看著我戰戰兢兢，以龜速剷他的頭毛，想必要搞到天黑。
好啦，我就放膽一點，全情投入去剷！
「oh! easy easy! 輕輕力就可以。」我停一停，看一看，噢賣噶！他的頸背都變得通紅了！「痛嗎？」「不痛，但輕力就好。」
我一邊剷呀剷，一邊幻想自己就是髮型師，拿著梳去比劃一下，又用剪刀嘗試去垂直剪，希望可以減少髮量，同時做出自然的效果。
結果足足搞了一個小時多。拍個照給他看看背面剪得如何，”Good good!” 而我只可以說：”Not too bad……”
每次咖喱男坐在我面前，我都禁不住凝視著那一頭忽長忽短、左右不對稱的頭毛。難得他很滿意。
同日，輪到我心思思想染髮。我說：「我想自己染髮。」咖喱男聽道：「好呀我幫你！」老實說，有一刻我心想：「給你搞我的頭毛，是否等如自討苦吃？」咖喱男從不染髮，我就一直是去髮型屋染的。
可是德國的剪染服務比我想像中貴，女生洗剪染平均40-50€，染髮也一樣，剪染合起來就要超過100€了（在東京才要7000多日圓啊），所以更加想自己染染看。
既然咖喱男放心給我剪他的頭毛，我又豈能對給他染髮沒有信心呢？於是我找來一個Youtube影片，給他看看如何有條理並均勻地將染髮劑塗在每一根頭髮上，然後立即開工！
你可能會認為：「染髮而已，有幾難呀？很多人都自己染啦！」同意，但對一個從不染髮，從未曾幫女生梳頭髮束頭髮的咖喱男來說，他每一步都得小心翼翼。
「嘩我一梳，很多頭髮都斷了！」「正常的，不用怕！我每天都掉很多頭髮！」
他又嘗試抹上染髮劑後梳一梳，「打結了！梳不到。你痛不痛？」「不要緊，照梳吧！我不覺得痛啊！」
我將頭髮分開4份紮起，然後每次他拆開一束頭髮，再用梳子分開幾份，把染髮劑逐少逐少由根部開始抹上去，最後還會檢查有沒有白頭髮成了漏網之魚。他很用心，不是胡亂把染髮劑塗抹在老婆的頭毛上，不是為了交功課，這份心機我很欣賞。
結果，跟我剪他的頭毛一樣，足足搞了一個多小時。成果嗎？預料之內有白頭髮沒有染好，不過都有90分滿意啊！下次都給他染好了。講真，有幾多老公會幫自己老婆染髮呢？：）
